To show you what modern image processing software (available for free!) can do I present to you a movie I have captured with my telescope. You find it down in the attachment area of the post.

The whobbling comes from the seeing (this night it was very bad seeing) and the shaking comes from gusty wind.
This is what the free image processing software Registax was able to distill out of this whobbling and shaking mess:
