Messier 82 (also known as NGC 3034, Cigar Galaxy or M82) is the prototype nearby starburst galaxy about 12 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major. The starburst galaxy is five times as bright as the whole Milky Way and one hundred times as bright as our galaxy's center.

Da mein geliebter Linksys NSLU leider den Geist aufgegeben hat. Suchte ich nach einem würdigen Nachfolger und wurde beim Raspberry Pi fündig.

Heute habe ich endlich mal Zeit gehabt den Code vom USB-Stick des NSLU auf die SD-Card des RPis zu spielen. Und - Linux sei dank - bis auf eine winzige Änderung am Ruby Skript läuft alles wie zuvor. Die Änderung ist wohl eher dem Sprung von Ruby 1.8 auf Ruby 1.9 zu verdanken. Sonst wäre das Programm wohl einfach so gelaufen.

Bald ist meine Wetterstation wieder online.

The Pleiades (M45) or Seven Sisters: One of the closest open star clusters roughly 400ly away. The nebula is a so called reflection nebula because it reflects the light of the stars. It consist of interstellar dust.

I tried to upgrade to Drupal 7 yesterday - and rolled back after some hours. Someone decided to change the image handling and I was not able to migrate the old data in a way that images get displayed. I have to try with a test installation... Sometimes so simple things come out to be not so simple... ;-)

The dark spots are "colder" areas (only 4000°C - the normal surface is 6000°C hot) on the sun where the rising of hot plasma from the inner core is inhibited by strong magnetic fields.
